Robert Klein Engler

The World Through the Artist's Eye

Reception: Fri. Sept. 9 | 5:30 - 9 p.m.

Robert Klein Engler viewed a painting as more or less a colored work to hang on a wall, a movable window. He has immersed himself in a year-long painting of Omaha, Nebraska. Klein Engler researched the roles of German immigrants in the early history of Omaha as he painted the images he imagined. His research has been reflected on the painting's German title. Through this year's experience, Klein Engler has "learned that painting makes nothing happen."

     Abstract collages and masks

 Wear it like you own it! It's a 50's party! Fri. March 11 | 5:30 - 9 p.m

Norm Melichar uses found objects in innovative ways such as masks, jewelries and collages. Each of his mask is unique and has a story of their own. "His philosophy has long been that art should be uplifting and fun, with the goal of sharing the joy he has found in creating beauty from what others throw away as trash." Norm has been incorporating narratives to go with the masks. Each story is unique and fits the character of the masks perfectly.

Anne Burkholder - Rivers of Nebraska

Evening Party Fri. Apr. 8 | 5:30 - 9 pm|

Anne has been painting the rolling landscape of Nebraska for over 60 years. Her love of Nebraska’s rivers started in early childhood while growing up along the South Loup and later the Platte River. Even when Anne traveled through other states, the beauty of Nebraska Rivers spoke to her and inspired her landscape paintings.

Never asking for a hand-up or hand-out, JK Thorsen supports herself as a full-time artist. Having studied and worked on the West Coast and Midwest, she has her own style, and often works "in the moment". Her art sometimes reveals experiences, "nature" and observation, while her ecological focus continues to influence her options. Recent work observes non-violent play and includes questions such as one seen in a gentle concert painting, "Public Servants, Public Schools?"

Senor Carlos Suave'

"Dance Instructor Extraordinaire"

I, Carlos Suave, will put the move on you, wait, I will put the move "in" you after just five weeks or less! Samba, Salsa, Mambo and Jive, dance steps that will set any crotch on fire or is that "feet" on fire? This English, it is hard for me, yes?

We will move around the dance floor, my hands upon you, my feet sliding between you, my cheek nestled against your neck, inhaling your lingering aroma. The rhythm of the music will drive my pelvis against you turn after turn. Sweat will be dripping from our excited bodies, as we explore these dances intimately. I will personally and professionally turn you into the dance floor idol you have always desired. Eyes will follow your every step. Men will fall on their knees begging to be your dance partner. So sign up NOW!

Lessons start Monday night:
